National Workshops Poland, 22 & 23/05/2023 WP9

On May 22-23, 2023, participatory workshops with youth and local government employees were held as part of the “Digital Civic Participation 2.0” project financed by the CERV 2021- 2027 Program. The activity gathered in total 55 national participants, among which 23 women and 32 men.

On the first day, representatives of the Starachowice Youth City Council took part in the training. The meeting was an opportunity to consult the analysis of the Handbook on Digital Participation Tools and to present the best methods of social participation from Poland, Greece, Lithuania and Romania for young people. The idea of participatory budgets was also presented at the workshop, in particular, the green participatory budget addressed to primary schools with elements of digitization and ecology.

Young people, together with the coach and employees of the Municipal Office, worked out their assumptions for the school participatory budget, the course and methods of organizing individual stages were planned, an evaluation was carried out and a road map of activities aimed at organizing a school participatory budget.

On the second day, representatives of the MRM met at the City Hall with a wider group of local government employees and headmasters of primary schools to consult their results and introduce the necessary corrections and clarify important issues. Other e-participation methods and tools were also presented – from Poland, Greece, Lithuania and Romania.

The next stage of the green budget will be design thinking workshops, where young people will learn to conduct workshops on generating ideas, and a social Hackathon, which will take place in Athens on June 21-24, 2023. There, young people will present their idea to a wider international group.
